Botanical description

Alfalfa is a perennial forage legume which normally lives four to eight years but can live more than 20 years, depending on variety and climate. Alfalfa is considered an insectary plant and may help protect other plants from pests if the two are interplanted.

Alfalfa is believed to have originated in south-central Asia and was first cultivated in Central Asia. Traditionally, alfalfa is often viewed as a rejuvenating tonic that supports vitality, tissue nourishment, and mineral restoration.
