Cultural Note
In Yoruba spiritual tradition, the vulture feather is potent spiritual tool used for protection and blessings. It is believed to ward off evil spirits and bring divine protection to those who possess it. The vulture is a symbol of the òrìṣà, Ọṣun, and in Lukumi the vulture is specifically connected to Ọṣun's personification as Ibu Kole.
Kemetic (ancient Egyptian) people considered vultures as the symbol of purity and motherhood. Kemetic people believed that all vultures were female, spontaneously birthed from eggs without the intervention of a male.
