Our male Abrus Precatorius seeds are used in many cultures around the world. It is called Peonia in the Carribean, Huaryruro in South America, Ojuologbo in Yorubaland, and Gulaganji (Gunja/Chirmi) in India. These seeds are well known for their unique red and black color, symbolizing duality and balance. In indigenous traditions around the world this seed is used for both protection and good fortune.
Often drilled to become beads for jewelry, in Lukumí these special seeds serve as aids for decision making with assistance from Èṣù-Ẹlẹ́gbára (Eleggua in Lukumí). In Yorùbá culture these seeds are sacred bridges between the spiritual and the physical helping to dispel negative energy.
Èṣù-Ẹlẹ́gbára is known as the messenger òrìṣà (Divine Force of Nature), the guardian of cross roads and opener of paths. Èṣù-Ẹlẹ́gbára symbolizes polarity and the divine manifestation of choice, encompassing the varying paths and phases of fate and life.
